After World War II, young married couples joined synagogues in droves.  We joined Park Synagogue and it became our social, educational and spiritual home.  We became very active and remember the fascinating study discussion sessions in Rabbi Armond Cohen’s home.  We took to heart the words of the prophets to “clothe the naked, feed the hungry, care for the widow.”  Long before we ever heard of the words tikkun olam, one of our top priorities was to be involved in committees, agencies and the Jewish Welfare Fund Appeal.  It is because we want the Jewish community to remain strong and continue to help those in need, that we leave this legacy so that our belief in tikkun olam lives long after we’re gone.
