My husband Jules, of cherished memory, and I were raised in the tradition of tzedakah.  Both of us had observant parents, whose pushkes were visible reminders of our Jewish responsibility to care for one another.  One of my first jobs was at Cleveland’s Jewish Family Service Association, where I became aware, early on, of the organized Jewish community and our essential network of service agencies.

Meanwhile Jules was working at the Council Educational Alliance, the predecessor to our Jewish Community Center.  We met at JFSA when Jules worked there as a summer aide.  After we were married, we lived on a farm in Auburn Center where we worked hard to improve the social services in the area.  

During our six decades together, Jules and I traveled the world, visiting Israel many times.  At home, our interests included many diverse organizations.  Wherever we went, whomever we met, we never lost sight of our Jewish traditions and our obligation to “repair the world.”

It is my pleasure and privilege to carry on the tradition, taught by our parents and practiced throughout our lives together, by leaving a legacy to the Cleveland Jewish community.
