Marianna Luxenberg, known to all as “Mickey,” was born in 1930 and worked very hard during her life.  She earned a scholarship to Elmhurst College, Illinois where she was a leader and excelled in theatre, orchestra, and sports.  Her 49 year marriage to Herb Luxenberg began when his friend, Arnold King encouraged Herb to ask Mickey out on a date!

Judaism became part of life-- raising 5 children and driving Grandma Anne and kids to Silver’s Temple every Sunday.  At the age of 42, Mickey began to study Hebrew and Judaism and earned a teaching certificate at the Cleveland College of Jewish Studies. She spoke Hebrew fluently and began a lifelong devotion to Israel.  Mickey and Herb established a home in Tiberias, Israel and were never afraid to travel there.  

Their Jewish values were emphasized in lives committed to family, education, and charity.  It is a mitzvah to honor our father’s memory by honoring our mother with a Lion of Judah Endowment, thus inscribing our exceptional parents in the Jewish Federation of Cleveland’s Endowment Book of Life.
